STI opened positively at 2806.27 lifted by gains in the bank shares. Sentiment was buoyed by Wall Street's overnight strength, after the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.8% for its biggest gain since 1st December this month.

Noble Group has requested for a trading halt this morning.

Straits Asia Resources entered into a five year club financing facility for US$380m. The facility will be used to refinance an existing US$255m facility, provide additional working capital and funds for Straits Asia’s planned expansion of its coal production.

In Summary

The STI closed up 37.01 points to 2823.82, with 1.2071 billion traded. It seems that China Sector is losing stream, hence, our primarily focus shall be on Property Sector.
