Our Focus For Today Is On Small – Mid Caps 

STI slips lower and opened at 2686.25. Index is coming down but well supported by 2681.69.

On Last Friday, Ramba Energy had a sudden surge up at 15:00. There are new setups formed and the new entry signal is to BUY at 0.745, STOP LOSS at 0.685 and TAKE PROFIT at 0.805.

We advise to enter with small risk for Ramba and SATs Service.

MFS broke high of 0.275, to wait for setup

Lion Asia Pac broke high of 0.34, to wait for setups

Lion Asia Resources, a unit of Malaysian conglomerate Lion Group, has increased its bid for takeover target Polaris Metals by A$0.10 ($0.13) per share to 70 cents per share

Lion has said that it also intends to make a cash offer for all of the "in the money" options issued in Australia-listed Polaris, according to a statement that was submitted to the Australian Securities Exchange.

It will be a big week in terms of important statistics released in China with all eyes looking at Real GDP for 3Q figures, the Producer Price Index, Retail Sales and Industrial Production for September numbers all on Tuesday 20th October 09.

In Japan, demand for services rose for a third month in August as indicated by the Tertiary Index this morning. The Tertiary Index, which captures 63 percent of the economy, advanced 0.3 percent from July. The median forecast of 21 economists surveyed by
Bloomberg News was for a 0.1 percent increase. Further indications on how the economy is recovering will also be available through an All-Industry Activity Index for August on Thursday 22nd October 09.

Here at Singapore, the Consumer Price Index for September will also be out on Friday 23rd October 09.

Investors concerned with the U.S market may also be keen to look at the Producer Price Index for September and September Housing starts on Tuesday 20th October 09; the weekly MBA Mortgage Applications on Wednesday 21st October 09 and Initial Jobless Claims the day after, and last of all, Existing Home Sales for September on Friday 23rd October 09.

The key statistics released in Europe this week revolves around PMI figures regarding Manufacturing, Services and Composite sectors on Friday 23rd October 09.

Afternoon Highlights

Index is trading higher and spring back to above 2700 points. Property shares are starting to move up. Among the Quick Picks, Capitaland is slightly closer to the breakout point.

Venture is not performing so far due to technology stocks in Japan being pushed lower. There might be changes to the Stop Loss, but will have to see how the stock performs till end of the trading session.

In Summary,

Singapore shares closed higher with the blue-chip Straits Times Index up 3.58 points to 2711.70. In total, 1.6871 billion is traded today.

On the other hand, Hong Kong shares close up 1.2% at 14-month high on China outlook. Nikkei 225 Index slipped 21.05 points, or 0.21%, to 10,237, while the broader Topix index of all first section stocks rose 4.85 points, or 0.54%, to 906. The Japan market, having opened weaker on negative cues from Wall Street, managed to recover losses in late trading session lifted by financial stocks.
